Updating Your Room Décor with Ikea Products

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Eventually, you come to a point in your life where the hot pink bedspread and the lime green carpet in your room just doesn’t say “you” anymore.  You loved that bedspread to death and begged your mom to buy it for you, and now you are begging your mom to take the bedspread OUT of your room.  Ikea is a great place to revamp your room’s style with a small budget!  The following items totalled less than $150 (Canadian, before taxes), so you can get your shop on, guilt-free!

Bedlinen

This bedlinen is only $19.99, and that’s for a queen-size set!  It is a steal of a deal.  The grey pattern on the white background is fun while still providing elegance, and it suits a simplistic room aesthetic.

Pillow and Pillow Cover

This pillow is massive, at a size of 26”x26”.  This is the perfect size for you to rest up against while sitting in bed. This inner cushion simply goes inside of the pillowcase to allow for maximum comfort!  The price of the inner pillow is $8.00.

The pillow cover is soft, and the material is durable.  The cover comes in at $12.99.

Carpet

For the carpet, try a simple smaller rug that you could put beside your bed.  This way your feet are still greeted by the softness of a carpet when you get out of bed, but your room isn’t taken over by the size of the carpet.  This rug is $39.99, and if treated right, it can last for years.

Picture Wall

Make your room special to you.  Make yourself a picture wall with 5 of these frames, which only cost $1.99 each.  This way you can be reminded of all the things you love with a super cute and customized display.

Organization

Staying organized is the key to a beautiful bedroom.  I would suggest getting 3 of each of these organizers to help with keeping the clutter (makeup brushes, hair ties, loose change, etc.) out of sight.

Storage

If you still have all those chests that used to hold your toys as a child, and now are holding a ton of random stuff, it’s time for an upgrade!  This utility cart is perfectly modern and still gives you easy access to all those items.  The cart rings in at $34.99.

Overall, these items came in at a total of $145.50, which gives your room a whole new look without breaking the bank!
