Transitioning your Wardrobe into Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Spring is just around the corner and the surprisingly warm weather that Waterloo has experienced this February has us even more excited for the new season! As collegiettes, Spring is always a highly anticipated time of year. We’re over trekking to campus in thick jackets, wool hats and bulky winter boots. We’re ready for Spring and all the fashion trends that come along with it- light layers, delicate shoes and airy scarves!

Spring is the perfect time of year to experiment with our wardrobes and test out new trends that won’t be hidden beneath drab winter layers and neutrals. Our greatest tip for transitioning your wardrobe into Spring is to incorporate these trends in a subtle way over time. Try wearing a darker floral before going straight for the whites and brights! Or, pair a Spring statement shirt with a thicker wool jacket to transition into the season seamlessly. To help you determine exactly which trends you should be splurging on, Her Campus has compiled a list of our favorite styles for the season along with tips and tricks to style them!

Embroidery

We’ve seen embroidery everywhere this season and we’re loving this blast from the past when it’s styled in a mature way! Try embroidered bombers, booties and jeans this Spring.

Statement Shirts

This trend has been such a fun and bold way to welcome the new season! We’re loving wide bell sleeves, off the shoulder tops and ruffled details.

Culottes

Spring signifies the return of cropped hems and pants! Culottes are a great way to make an outfit look classy and are the perfect variation of the typical jean.

Metallics

This trend was huge this past Winter and we’re so excited to see it continuing into the new season. Try a silver moto jacket or golden shoes to get the look!

Raw Hem Denim

The distressed jean trend has become iconic over the years, but we especially love this year’s take on the trend with the raw hem detail. This adds an undone, casual style to your overall look.

Block Heels

In my opinion, the best part about Spring fashion is being able to bring out bold shoes and heels! The block heel trend is amazing for everyday wear on a bootie or even a strappy sandal for a night out.

Happy March, Collegiettes! Enjoy the warm weather and try a few of our favourite Spring trends to embrace the season.
