It’s been a long week, so why not reset to start the next one strong? We often find ourselves so consumed with work, school and personal obligations that we forget to leave time for self-care and relaxation. Carving out time for ourselves is essential for maintaining physical and emotional health. This is why I’ve created a Sunday reset self-care routine that I try to follow that varies by week. I hope you enjoy reading these tips and if you haven’t already, try them out!

1. Get Active!

I like to start my day off right and most days that includes the gym. Starting the day with a burst of energy doesn’t only mean a burst in energy and metabolism but also sets a great tone for the day. Meditation or yoga is also a great way of letting go of the stress of the week. Setting aside time to be mindful can benefit your overall mental and emotional well-being. Lately, I’ve been trying to go on runs and nature walks because I’ve found that immersing myself in nature and getting off my screen wakes up my mind and body for the day. It’s important to let yourself be present and take in your surroundings.

2. Treat Yourself

It’s always good to take yourself out and spend time with yourself. Trying out a new cafe or going to the library and leisurely reading a book of your choice is always a wonderful way to relax and enjoy an afternoon. If you like getting your nails done, then Sundays are a great time to get them looking fresh for the upcoming week. Buying yourself flowers is also a great way to care for yourself and lighten up your mood. The vibrant colors and pleasing scents can be a nice addition to your bedroom or workspace. Buying flowers for yourself is also a terrific way to reinforce the idea that you are worthy of love and kindness which can end up boosting your self-esteem.

3. Creative Activity

Engaging in a creative activity that brings you happiness is a fantastic way to express yourself.  Doing activities such as writing, painting or playing music can be fulfilling. Tap into your creative side without judgment or expectations and see what happens! It’s all a part of the fun.

4. Hair and Skin Care

Incorporating a special hair and skincare routine is a nice way to rejuvenate yourself for the upcoming week. You can start this by selecting products and treatments specific to your hair and skin type. Treat yourself to a face mask to revitalize and bring a glow to your skin. Doing an everything shower by exfoliating, shaving and moisturizing is a great way to feel fresh and can look different for everyone. I’ve found that taking the time to give yourself a pampering session can help to reduce stress and relax your mind while boosting your confidence and making you feel ready to take on the week. Taking some time to care for yourself is a good way of showing yourself some self-love!

5. Early Bedtime

It’s the end of the day so it’s time to wind down and get a restful night’s sleep. Put on some cozy pajamas, turn on your lamps and help yourself to some calming tea. Try and go to bed early as it’s important to recharge your mind and body for the week.

Through this routine, I’ve found that doing these small acts of care towards yourself is more about taking the intentional time to take care of yourself from the inside out. It helps boost your confidence and your happiness. So, this is just your friendly reminder to take care of and love yourself.
