The holidays are right around the corner, and you might be wondering how to make the most of your time at home. To help you get inspired, I have created a list of activities that you can do to enjoy this holiday season right in the comfort of your own home.

Painting

This activity is such a fun one because you get to be creative in what you want to paint. Using a variety of colours, textures and styles, this activity will keep you happily busy for hours. Play some music and make a warm cup of coco, and you’ve got the perfect combination for a cozy paint day.

Baking

Baking is loved by many, including me. From cupcakes and cakes to brownies and cookies, there are so many delicious treats to choose from. You can even make Christmas-inspired desserts to invite the holiday spirit into your home. There is a special kind of joy you feel when baking, especially when you’re sharing the experience with a friend or family member.

Movie Marathon

Now it wouldn’t be the holidays without a movie marathon. Spend some time at home, cozying up with your favourite blanket and pajamas, and grab some popcorn and hot coco to watch movies back-to-back. Christmas movies are the way to go for an all-day binge. Classics like Home Alone, Love Actually or A Charlie Brown Christmas are just a few you can include in your movie marathon.

Board Games

Board games are a fantastic way to have fun at home. You can play with friends and family, bringing everybody together to enjoy the holiday season. If you enjoy competitive games, go for Monopoly or Clue. If you enjoy movement and laughter, try Twister or Pictionary. Although this is not technically a board game, Charades is an honorable mention as it is still an amusing activity that I believe should be added to this list.

Reading

For those who enjoy getting lost in a book, make the most of this holiday season by diving into your TBR list. With so many genres and plots to choose from, you want to read them all. Get cozy by the fire with a warm drink in hand, and you’ll be fully immersed in the reading spirit.

Self-Care

Dedicate the holidays to spending time at home practicing self-care. This could mean putting on a face mask, taking a bubble bath or even journaling your thoughts. It is a good idea to take some time to relax, unwind and treat yourself with kindness while you’re spending your time at home for the holidays.

Learn a New Hobby

The holidays provide a perfect opportunity to learn a new hobby. It can be amusing and will keep you busy all day. You can try crocheting, cooking, dancing or explore some new hobbies of your own.

Decorate a Gingerbread House or Gingerbread Men

Holidays mean Christmas and Christmas means decorating a gingerbread house or little gingerbread men. You can grab a kit from the store or bake everything from scratch. Decorate them however you like and play some Christmas music to bring the festive spirit. For even more fun, turn it into a friendly competition with friends or family to see who can decorate their gingerbread house or little gingerbread men the most creatively. The best part is getting to take a bite of your delicious creation!

Cuisine From Around the World

Another activity that I want to include on this list is cooking, specifically international cuisine. All you need is a recipe, the right ingredients and the tools to cook a delicious meal from the country of your choosing. You can even dedicate each day of the holiday season to a different country’s cuisine. Invite your friends and family to help out and enjoy the meal together. It’s a fun way to learn about cuisines from different countries and create unforgettable memories.

Arts & Crafts

Last but not least, arts & crafts are a great way to spend the holidays at home. Try making a festive wreath, some Christmas ornaments, bracelets or even origami. It’s the perfect way to tap into your creative side, try something new and have a good time.

While this list highlights a few activities to choose from, there are many more you can explore and do at home for the holidays. I hope what I shared has helped you plan and prepare for the festivities. Wishing you all fun and happy holidays!
