How Her Campus Has Enhanced my University Experience So Far

Writing for Her Campus has given me the creative outlet that I never knew I needed. Writing new articles every week on topics that I am passionate about has allowed me to vent and destress. It’s given me an opportunity to connect with others in a way that I’ve never done before. Here are some reasons why I love writing for Her Campus and why you should try to get involved (I promise, you won’t regret it).

First up, the people! In most school clubs that you join, you have the opportunity to meet so many new people that share some of your hobbies and passions. Almost immediately after joining my school’s Her Campus chapter, I felt welcomed into this community with open arms. I never felt judged or scared to express my opinion. Everyone was open-minded and sweet, and I can honestly say that Her Campus has allowed me to meet some amazing and strong women. Even in this virtual environment, I am still able to make connections and learn from others within this small club. That should tell you a little something about how strong the sense of community is within Her Campus.

Next, Her Campus has given me a creative outlet and the ability to express myself in a way that I never knew I needed. Writing each week about topics that interest me has given me the opportunity to vent, express my opinions and just put the rest of my life on pause for a quick moment. Honestly, I was kind of wary when I first saw the application to join Her Campus. I wanted to get involved in my school, but I didn’t think I would be good at writing articles. I actually applied to be an editor when I decided that I wanted to join the club, because I figured it would be easier for me having no prior writing experience. However, once I found out that there were some spots left on the writing team, I decided to give it a shot. I never knew that I would still be writing to this day and loving every second of it! I’m so glad that I found Her Campus and decided to give it a try because it has opened my eyes to try new things and express myself in a unique way.

Lastly, building off my last point, Her Campus has allowed me to learn so much. Not only about writing and publishing, but also about myself. In the past year, I’ve had some amazing mentors and teachers when it comes to writing and formatting. Their little tips and tricks here and there, during meetings and after editing my articles, have helped me build a stronger writing mindset. I always thought that I wasn’t a creative person, but Her Campus has helped me learn that I am. I’ve just had my creative side hidden for a long time.

All in all, I am so grateful for the opportunity to write for Her Campus. It has allowed me to express myself and meet so many amazing people. If you are looking for a way to get involved in your school, I definitely recommend joining Her Campus if your school has a chapter too. Even if you are someone who doesn’t feel completely comfortable with writing, there are different ways to get involved within the club. One way or another, I guarantee you’ll love your experience at Her Campus.
