So, my mom has a card with an image of an owl on it, and captioned below it is the following: “After the storm”. The card is absolutely beautiful, with a golden sun behind it and a snowy white owl in front of it. The owl’s talons are clutching onto something that is golden and grid like, what that object represents is beyond my understanding. Nevertheless, the card’s caption resonates a lot with me.
As a senior, I am required to take a course titled “Senior Seminar,” this course is designed to synthesize all of one’s experience within their major and produce a piece of high quality academic work that is a reflection of all that that individual has learned within their major.
At the beginning of the semester, this project was incredibly intimidating. The final projected had to be, at a minimum, at least fifteen pages, and that is fifteen pages of extensive research and a concern raised by the student crafting the project. Yet, once we started working on the aspects of the project in class, I was surprised at how smoothly the drafting process went. What seemed to be the most frightful class assignment I would ever have to engage in turned out to be a very rewarding piece of academic work,
I say all of this to say that, things and or challenges can be frightening and scary, they can be intimidating, and they can cause a sense of paralysis, especially when you’re trying to get started on them. However, these projects that evoke a challenge do only that. A challenge is introduced only to be conquered, even if you fail at first – or miss your mark – that challenge is not meant to remain a challenge. You will overcome your challenges, and you will make it out of the storm.
Just a friendly reminder!
