How to Combat the Wells Plague

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wells chapter.

The Wells Plague is upon us and we have suffered quite the blunder from this influenza. This cold seems to never end; you might be rid of it one week and then the next you’re in bed again, coughing up a lung.

Here are some ways you can try to stay healthy with the bug going around!

Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer

Our hands are the one area of our body that comes in contact with countless amount of germs throughout the day. You should always try to wash or disinfect your hands before eating, preparing food, or touching your face.

Drink an obnoxious amount of water

By drinking water, you will be flushing toxins and germs out of your system making it so you’re less likely to get sick. It’s also just healthy to stay hydrated!

Disinfect everything!

I personally love using Clorox or Lysol disinfecting wipes and sprays because it kills the germs and leaves a nice scent. Make sure to constantly keep disinfecting surfaces and any belongings that the sickness may have touched.

Pile on that Vitamin C

By taking Vitamin C supplements or even just drinking orange juice every day, you are giving your immune system a boost to help fight off those nasty germs that are making everyone sick.

Washing laundry frequently

By doing laundry frequently, you’re killing off any germs that may be lurking in your clothes, blankets, or sheets. Make sure to wash your bed covers since often that’s where the germs are.

End your hot shower with some cold water

I’ve heard from others that if your end your hot shower with cold water, it helps boosts your immune system and makes it so you’re not sick. I’m not sure if this works but, it wouldn’t hurt to try!

I’m not a doctor so I can’t tell you that all of these things will make it so you’ll stay healthy, but it is way better to try and fight against the plague than to just let it spread and fester around this campus.

Like they always say: Be a germ fighter!
