Some Gentle Self-Care Reminders for Finals Season (ft. puppies)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

Exam season is a stressful time and, understandably, sometimes we sacrifice taking care of ourselves for an extra few minutes cramming. Here are a few reminders to take time for self care this month; these puppies (and your body and mind) will thank you.

Coffee is not a meal! Make sure you are taking time to have some fresh fruits and veggies and that you’re getting enough protein too. Taking some time to cook a healthy meal can be a great study break, but if you’re running extra low on time, make sure you at least grab some fruit.

Most university students are not strangers to late nights spent studying, however, it is still super important that you get enough sleep! A good night’s rest is your best friend the night before an exam.

Make sure you remember to take time to shower, wash your face, and brush your teeth. Taking time to get all cleaned up will help you feel ready to take on even the toughest final!

Make sure to get some fresh air! Even just walking to a few different study spaces on campus gets you moving, in the sunshine, and out of your stuffy room.

That being said, it’s super important to keep moving! Whether that’s walking around campus, doing Zumba in the living room with your friends or going to the gym, try to build in some time every day to get up and get moving.

Finally, take some time to do something you enjoy! Studying all day, every day isn’t sustainable, and you’ll find yourself burned out before exams are over. Remember to take breaks!

Good luck on exams — you’re gonna rock it!
