How to Make Your Own Shamrock Shake

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up this weekend, we thought you might like to indulge in some Shamrock Shakes! The great thing about this recipe is that it only requires a few ingredients, takes no time, and can be made alcoholic (if you really want to be festive).

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1 ¼ cups 2% milk
  • ¼ teaspoon mint extract
  • 8 drops green food colouring
  • Optional: whipped cream

Directions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a blender on high speed until it’s smooth
  2. Periodically stir with a spoon to spread out the ice cream
  3. Blend some more!
  4. Pour into glasses
  5. Optional: add some whipped cream
  6. Drink up!

We hope you enjoy your milkshakes, and have a safe St. Patrick’s Day!
