Feast Your Eyes On These Four Fabulous Local Eatery’s

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

With winter still well on its way, a lot of us are looking for a cozy place to curl up indoors with a loved one, our gal pals, or our bros. We’ve taken our time to recommend some hidden gems around the Kitchener, Waterloo area that will help get you out and exploring the city a little bit more when you need a study break from mid terms.

1. Thai Sun

75 King St S, Waterloo, ON N2J 1N9

Located Uptown Waterloo, this quant little restaurant is perfect for those looking to venture out from the University Avenue’s Mcdonald’s scene. It offers a wide variety of Thai food; our personal favourite is the vegetarian Pad Thai with tofu.  It isn’t an overly pricey option for us students either, as most meals cost between fifteen-twenty dollars.

2. The Lancaster Smokehouse

574 Lancaster St W, Kitchener, ON N2K 1M3

For those meat eaters looking to try some laid back but delicious dining, the Lancaster Smokehouse is the place to be. Their ribs are too mouth watering! It’s located just down Bridge and University near Lancaster. What better motivation to get out and explore Kitchener-Waterloo than the promise of some savoury steak? It’s worth the trip!

3. Abe Erb

15 King St S, Waterloo, ON N2J 1N9

This recently opened establishment in the heart of Uptown Waterloo boasts a sophisticated, yet student-friendly menu. It is also unique in the fact that it displays so much of Kitchener-Waterloo’s local history inside. The food and decor are both unforgettable.

4. The Symposium

4 King St N, Waterloo, ON N2J 2W7

Not craving a huge meal? Looking to sit down with a couple friends for a spot of tea or a beer? Symposium is where you’ll want to go. This is yet another fabulous eatery located in Uptown Waterloo. They serve a delightful assortment of cakes as well! We can’t help but crave their chocolate mousse cake at this time of year.

If you’re looking to get out with your friends, or boo this winter, or just need a study break during midterms, these are the places you’ll want to be!
