Best Places to Study on Campus at UW

With finals fast approaching, we all have some studying to get done. But, if you’re anything like me, you’re always running out of places to sit and study on campus. With over 40,000 students, UW can be a super crowded place when you’re just trying to get some work done. With tons of tourists visiting the Suzallo reading room year-round, it can be obnoxious to study at the library everyday. If you’re on the hunt for some new places to study (that others may not know about yet), I have compiled this list just for you.

NanoES/MolES building

On the West side of campus, you’ll find the brand new and super scientific-looking NanoES/MolES building. This is a perfect place to study if you want to be in a more modern setting, especially because it tends to be pretty quiet. Most people haven’t ventured to look inside, but this building has tables and chairs, booths, and big windows, perfect for studying in natural daylight.

Hans Rosling Center for Population Health

In case you haven’t been to the newest building on campus yet, the Hans Rosling Center for Population Health is a fantastic place to study. Also on West campus, this building has a ton of tables and chairs on the bottom two floors, with even a Starbucks for your daily caffeine fix. Plus, if you’re a public health major, you have key-card access to the other 6 floors, all of which have fantastic views of Seattle and the space needle, as well as kitchens, wellness rooms, and plenty of space to study.

Allen library upper floors

If you feel like studying in the library, I have to suggest visiting the Allen library’s upper floors. Connected to Suzallo via the sky bridge, the Allen library has tons of tables and chairs for you to study while surrounded by book stacks. My personal favorite place to sit is by the windows along the sides of the building, where you can have your very own personal cubicle. If you’re looking for somewhere especially quiet to study, this is your best bet.

Foster Business School library

If you find yourself on North campus more often than not, you should try visiting the Foster Business School’s library, located underneath PACCAR hall. With plenty of places to sit and study rooms you can reserve, this swanky new library is the perfect quiet place to study while you live out your dreams of being a self-made businesswoman.

So, if you find yourself stuck on campus without anywhere to sit (and are sick of the crowdedness of most study spots at UW), I hope that this list will help you find somewhere to get some work done. Happy studying, Huskies!
