You Are Good Enough

You are good enough.

Here’s the thing, I either am filled with confidence, or drowning in doubt. There is no in between.

Even though I have been like this basically my entire life, I am just now realizing that it doesn’t have to be like this forever. When it comes to things such as giving a speech in my public speaking class, or even preparing for an interview for a future job, my first instinct is to doubt myself. I always think that I am not good enough, or that I will do something to fail and mess everything up, and it honestly is such an unhealthy mindset to have.

Although it has been so hard to correct this mindset, my confidence in myself is definitely improving, and I have come up with some things that help me be more confident in my day to day life.

The first thing that has helped me is to stop focusing on the negatives. This might seem like a no brainer, or a simple thing to do, but trust me, it’s not. Instead of thinking about all of the ways I can mess up my upcoming speech, I try to focus on how I am going to kill it, and practice until I have absolutely no room for that doubt anymore.

Another thing that ties into focusing on the positives is utilizing the law of attraction. Now this might sound stupid to some of you, but I swear it works (or at least helps.) For example, I managed to get an internship this summer which I am extremely excited about, but my first thought of course when I found out I got it is that I am not good enough.

I pictured myself disappointing people, and them regretting allowing me to be an intern in the first place, and my mind wandered to other terrible thoughts from there. According to the law of attraction, if I keep thinking like this, then it most likely is going to happen. Filling your mind with negative thoughts attracts negative outcomes.

Recently, with the help of friends and family hyping me up, I am starting to picture this internship in a whole different light. I am trying to envision myself doing amazing things there, and it leading me to new opportunities. Basically, I am envisioning myself not screwing up.

The next time you feel like you aren’t good enough, ask yourself why. Get rid of the doubt, get rid of the self-pity, and remind yourself that you are good enough. You’d be surprised at all of the things a small change of mindset can do. You got this, girl.
