Meals for Those Who Don’t Like To Cook

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Virginia Tech chapter.

If you’re like me, you don’t like cooking. I don’t completely hate it, nor am I completely clueless when it comes to cooking, but I just don’t like being stuck in the kitchen for that long when I do make meals for myself. It’s something that is unavoidable since you have to eat, but you can definitely work around that dislike. Over time, I’ve learned some meals and snacks that are very easy and quick to make, especially for those who don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen.

Breakfast
  • Rice cakes with peanut butter and a banana
  • Eggs and bacon
    • This can be regular or the toast variation where you crack an egg on top and lay a piece of bacon and put it in an air fryer.
  • Yogurt bowl with fruit, honey and granola
  • Overnight oats with berries
    • Technically, it’s not quick since it’s overnight, but it’s still a grab-and-go.
Lunch/Dinner
  • Choice of protein with rice and choice of veggie
    • Could be salmon, rice and broccoli, or chicken, rice and asparagus. There are endless combinations.
  • Pasta
  • Protein & veggie stir fry
    • Just like the first lunch/dinner meal, you can make a lot of different combinations with what you have.
  • Pesto chicken
    • Pesto chicken is pretty easy to make. All you need is pesto, tomato slices and mozzarella.
Snacks
  • Tomato, avocado, tuna and saltine crackers
    • Trust me on this. This is literally my favorite snack ever. You dice a tomato and avocado. Then, you open up a pack of tuna, and you put a little bit of each on a saltine cracker.
  • Brie cheese with honey, fruit and pita crackers
    • If you know me, you know I love brie cheese. You can bake this in either a regular oven or an air fryer. I put however much from a round of brie I want to eat, drizzle honey over it and bake it. Then, when it comes out, I put some berries on top and eat it with pita crackers.
  • Mini pizzas
    • These were all over social media a while ago, but if you have tortillas, marinara, cheese, pepperoni and, if you like, any veggies, then you’re all set to make this snack.
