5 Movies and TV Shows I’m Trying To Watch Before Midterms

Midterms are around the corner and I’m already behind on the many TV series and movies I put on my movie-bucket list for this year. However, I’ve picked my favorites from that list to hurry up and watch before the weight of midterms cloud my brain.

Kick-Ass

Am I really watching this for the plot, or am I just watching it for Aaron Taylor-Johnson? I recently just finished watching Bullet Train, and even though he’s just a side character — I need more. Besides the eye candy, it seems like a cult classic that everyone has watched except me. It has a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes and features other stars such as Evan Peters and Chloe Grace Moretz. I’ll be the judge to see if Aaron Taylor-Johnson lives up to the hype in this early 2000s movie, though.

How To Get Away With Murder

This is a must-watch for every woman in pre-law. Annalise Keating’s confidence and walk get me every single time. I’m technically bluffing on this one because I saw bits and pieces of the show when I was getting my hair braided, but I’ve never watched it all. Let’s just say there’s a lot more going on than just courtroom drama and cross-examination. Yes, I’m dissing Law & Order

The Real Housewives of Atlanta

Ok, this one is a guilty pleasure. While I’ve been one to shift away from content where people display enormous amounts of their wealth, this show is a treasure. There’s just something so aesthetically pleasing about Atlanta in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The music, the fashion and the decor in this show will take you back to times when we hated bootcut jeans and layered different animal prints on top of each other. Don’t forget every iconic NeNe Leakes quote clip that you have saved in your photo gallery.

la la Land

Will this movie make me cry? Probably. As a hopeless romantic, this movie has been spoiled to me multiple times through friends, TikTok, etc. However, I have to watch it. Every single one of my friends that has watched this movie has cried tears of joy. I want to be moved by a movie like that. Am I already on a healing journey and do not need to consume any more emotional media? Maybe. Am I going to do it for the sake of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling? Yes.

Pearl

I’ve definitely been lying to everyone for the past couple of months. I haven’t watched Pearl; nevertheless, I’ve been saying that it’s the best horror movie ever made. I’m not even a horror movie type of girl. However, I do love Mia Goth and what she brings to the world of film and cinema! I’m not a slasher-horror fan, but I can recite Pearl’s monologue like it was on the back of my hand.

I hope I’m not too late on some of these movies and shows. Would it be too late to tell you guys that I’ve never watched Victorious and that it’s also on my list? Hopefully, I’ll complete my watch list by the end of this year but for now I’m sticking with the greats.
