I value joy. I not only wish others happiness, but also make myself happy in various ways. Here is a list of things I do to benefit my mood.
I. Watching movies
Movie watching enables me to relax, to think, to learn, and to communicate—all of these uplift me. Moreover, when I immerse myself into a film, I feel as if I am living another being’s life and having experience which I cannot obtain in reality. Such a possibility adds more meaning to movies.
II. Talking with parents and friends
A cure-all for my sadness is conversations with my parents and friends. When someone trustworthy and caring listens to me, I appreciate such warmheartedness and patience. The feedback and advice I get often help me solve the situations that trouble me.
III. Reviewing photos of the past
When I am upset, I sometimes turn to the photos of the past. Because of photos, happy moments last. Photos also make moments of other moods such as gloom happier. When I take a look at photos, a smile of my family member decades ago, a miswritten character whose time period I cannot recall, or a homemade dish last summer can make my day.
IV. Eating ice cream
I am always a fan of ice cream. When I savor a classic favor or try a new one, I feel uplifted. I feel empowered when holding an ice cream cone. Having vanilla ice cream with my mother is one of the loveliest memories of the summer.
V. Listening to Music
I have a playlist of music from multiple countries. I cannot agree more with the lyrics of some songs. Although I do not speak the languages of some songs, the melodies do my heart good. The transition between and the combination of different songs are interesting.
