Our Her Campus member of the week is Sylvia Leong! She received the most views on her article, The Distance is Worth It! Sylvia is a sophomore majoring in Mass Media here at VSU. She is a new addition to Her Campus and plans to become more involved in the Mass Media program. In her spare time she enjoys photography (especially taking photos of other people), painting and doing makeup and hair for others!
Sylvia loves being a part of Her Campus because, “I love being a part of a group who share the same passions and interests. Writing articles allow me to get my thoughts out or share my own interests with an audience.” She was inspired to write about long-distance relationships because of her personal experience, “Well, I am in a long-distance relationship myself and quite frankly, it’s emotionally and physically draining sometimes. But, when you love someone, it’s worth it. I felt like it would have been nice if someone gave me the same words of encouragement or if there was someone to relate to. So, I wanted to get my thoughts out and reassure people that long-distance relationships are possible.” As far as being member of the week goes, Sylvia feels a sense of accomplishment, “I feel very accomplished! This article was one that I was super proud of because of how personal it is.” She also left us with this fun fact, “I am from Malaysia, but I have been here in the United States since I was three.”
