Organic coconut oil can be used for many different things pertaining to the human body, including skin and hair. Many also use it as a replacement from butter for cooking. Organic unrefined coconut oil can be found in your local grocery or health food store. As a college student, it is very affordable and doesn’t hurt your wallet! Below are a couple of things that coconut oil is great for!
1. Make-Up Remover
This is the perfect make up remover, even for water resistant products! It is also super amazing for sensitive or dry skin compared to chemically filled make-up remover wipes and liquids that dry out your face. Place a small amount of oil into your palms and rub it together then place all over your face. If you have heavy make-up on you may want to let it sit for a minute or so and then take a cotton swab/pad and remove the make-up
Coconut oil can be used as a day and night moisturizer. Simply rub a small amount (not a lot you don’t want to look greasy) all over your face and neck. If you would like to use it as a body moisturizer, apply a fair amount (again not too much) as soon as you get out the shower. It is also great for chapped lips!
You may have seen many hair products that include coconut oil. This is because it is great for your hair as well! Use it as a deep hair mask treatment by applying the oil all over wet hair, and letting it sit for about 10 min, then rinsing. If you want a deeper treatment apply the coconut oil to your wet hair and sit under a dryer for about 20 min then rinse. (Hair dryer attachment bonnets can be found at beauty supply stores and can be used for condition treatments like this) Coconut oil for your hair adds moisture, strength, and can prevent hair loss.
There are many more ways that you can introduce coconut oil into your daily routine. These are just some of the most common uses! Give it a try!
