Major: Biology

What organizations are you involved in here at VSU?
I was involved in the Emerging Leader Program but now the only organization I’m currently involved with is the radio station.
What is your role as Blaze FM Station Manager?
My role as Station Manager is to make sure all my DJs are adequately trained to be on-air personalities. Being the Station Manager is like being in charge of any other organization… just with more music involved.
What sparked your interest in radio?
When I was a kid my family would take a lot of road trips. In-between the lame car games we’d listen to different radio stations. I saw how listening to the different Radio Personalities made everyone laugh and smile. It made me happy when everyone was like that and those trips made me want to make everyone laugh just like the different DJs did. I think those experiences made me want to go into radio more than anything.
What is your show about?
Rocque & The Crew is basically about my cohosts and I hanging out and playing great local music with all of our listeners. We tell jokes, talk about pop culture, and hot topics around campus.
Would you want to pursue radio after graduation?
The idea of me being on a nationally syndicated radio show sounds pretty awesome. Just thinking about my name being on the same level of Ricky Smiley’s would be a dream come true.
How do you practice time management? Any tips?
I’m still learning how to manage my time effectively. Sticky-notes have been a big help for me. Another big tip is to use any free time you have (no matter how small) to get any work you have done. Doing a little bit of work at a time can help out in the long run.
