5 Ways to Make Your College Apartment Feel Like Home During The Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

The holiday season is approaching and everyone can’t go home for various reasons! If you can make your own apartment feel like home it may make you feel better this holiday season. Here are a couple of tips that will make your holiday one for the books!

1. Get A Christmas Tree

Whether it’s a Charlie Brown tree or the biggest one you could find, make it yours! Christmas trees make you relive your childhood memories and with one in your apartment you’re guaranteed to want to relive those memories with your friends.

2. Scented Candles

Bath & Body Works will have your whole house smelling like your Grandma’s pumpkin pie or her famous gingerbread cookies! The one thing I love about Bath & Body Works candles is that they will last a long time and the fragrance never dies down. If a candle can make me feel like home, I’m sold!

3. Put up Christmas Lights

Whether they’re in your living room or your room those twinkling lights will put you in the right mood to celebrate the holiday season. Having lights in your room can remind you of all the Christmas Eves you spent falling asleep in front of the tree waiting for Santa.

4. Bake Your Favorite Desserts

Get your parents’ recipes for their famous pound cake or sweet potato pie and just get to baking! This is one of my favorite things to do because not only do you get to enjoy them but you can share with your friends too!

5. Have A Potluck With Your Friends

If you can’t make it home for the holidays you should consider finding out which of your friends have decided to stay too! You guys can all combine your ideas of what you want for your dinner and go from there. There’s so many possibilities and you never know whose holiday you might save through your camaraderie!

Hope you guys have a blessed and wonderful holiday! HCXO!
