Now that winter break is over, here are eight habits to get you out of bed and ready for the new semester. For me, it is always the last semester that drains the life out of me, due to it being the last semester of the school year. If you’re like me and not motivated to go to school with your mind still in break mode, here are some helpful tips for you.

Getting new stationary

I love getting new stationary for school. It makes me feel so excited to use my new pens and highlighters and makes me excited to go to university. I like getting my stationary from Amazon. Sometimes I get my stationary from Indigo if it is on sale. For studying I like to use these Q-card booklets from Amazon; they come in five different colours for all my classes.

Putting on a cute outfit

Okay hear me out, dressing up for school is so fun to me. I like picking out a cute outfit in the morning, as it makes my brain feel more at peace and collected. In other words, picking out my outfit for the day sets the mood for my day.

The goal of just attending class

Throughout my years of university, I would make big goals for myself, such as attending all my classes in a week. Now, just attending my classes that day is a win for me.

Creating a school playlist or a new one in general

Having the same songs on repeat makes my car ride to school boring and repetitive. That’s why I make a school playlist with over 150 songs with every genre. It makes my commute to school more exciting and puts me in a good mood to start my day.

Having something to look forward to

On my long and busy days at school, I always try to have something to look forward to after class. For me, it’s painting, seeing my friends or my boyfriend. When the school days get boring, I remind myself that after this I am doing something fun and entertaining.

Creating a schedule for the day

Personally, long-term schedules don’t work for me. They make me overwhelmed, and I end up not accomplishing it. Small  schedules work great for me. I only include details like waking up early, eating a good breakfast and packing snacks for school.

Creating an Excel Sheet for assignment due dates

I made this excel sheet last week and it is the background for my computer so I can see when everything is due. This keeps me on track for my assignments and helps me to finish them in an orderly manner.

Schedule a “catch up day”

Catch up days for me are to essentially catch up on what I missed during the week. This can vary depending on the week load of the week. What consists of my catchup day is catching up on assignments, emails, laundry, cleaning my room, etc. This also allows me to distress as well.
