Dear old me,
I know this is weird to hear from me but you need to hear this. Right now, you’re sitting in your dorm before the first day of college starts tomorrow.
I know you’re nervous and wondering how you’re going to get through it. Let me tell you this. Right now, four years from now, you’re going to be a senior and graduating in the summer. We’re graduating later than expected but it’s okay. The classes you’re taking are going to be hard but you’re a smart girl. You’re going to get through some challenges when it comes to school but you going to find a way. I know you want to ask, do you have a boyfriend? All I can say is that you know what you want. Everyone that tells you you’re being picky, that’s a good thing. Don’t settle for less and respect yourself. Don’t change who you are so that a guy can like you. The right guy will come along when you’re ready. I learned that the easy way and you will too.
Now let me get to the point. You going to learn some lessons along the way through college. You’re going to meet some people that are there for the season and those who are there for a reason. It’ll be tough but it’s going to make you tough. You’re not going to be the same girl you were when you came here. You’re going to be a better and stronger woman. You’re going to grow as a creative and as students. You’re going to achieve your small and large goals and so proud of yourself. Just remember that what you’re doing now is for you, not anyone else.
