It seems that in college, the snooze button has become your best friend. The downside? Your new friendship now means there is not enough time before class to have a healthy and nutritious breakfast. Here is a smoothie that is easy to make and packed with the nutrients you need to start your busy day.

Within ingredients to this recipe, there are important nutrients that help fuel the body. The protein powder give you protein, the flax seed is high in fiber, the Greek yogurt also has protein, and spinach is rich in antioxidants that help prevent cancer.

In order to make this smoothie, you will need some kind of blender. It doesn’t have to be very expensive. A single serve blender works well because you can make it, grab the bottle and go. Here are the ingredients that you will need as well as the directions to make the smoothie.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • Orange Juice
  • Protein powder (whatever flavor you prefer)
  • Flax Seed
  • Plain Greek Yogurt
  • Spinach
  • Frozen fruit (whatever kind you like! I find the mixed fruit to be my favorite.)

Directions

1. Peel one banana, cut or tear it into pieces, and put it into the blender.

2. Pour about one cup of orange juice and blend until smooth.

3. Use one scoop of protein powder.

4. Scoop ½ tablespoon of ground flax seed.

5. Use about ½ cup plain Greek yogurt and blend the mixture until smooth.

6. Grab a handful of spinach and blend the mixture until smooth.

7. Take a handful of frozen fruit and blend the mixture until smooth.

8. Enjoy!

I am a freshman attending the University of Wisconsin Stout. My major is Professional Communication and Emerging Media with a concentration in Applied Journalism. I am from a small town in Southeast Wisconsin. I love everything and anything Disney. Recently, I have gotten into RunDisney. It brings my love of Disney together with living a healthier lifestyle. After college, I hope to obtain a job with Disney, preferably in the RunDisney division.
