The Career Fair is finally here, but are you ready for it? A good first impression is always crucial, so make sure you take the time to do a little preparation beforehand. Here are just a few last minute things that you can do to be successful at the 2015 UW-La Crosse Career Fair!

1. Prepare your resume, and make lots of copies.

If you plan on speaking to any employers, update your resume and make enough copies to hand out to representatives you are interested in.

2. Scope out the employees before hand.

You can check out the list of employers at the 2015 Fall Career Fair under Eagle Opportunities on the UWL website. Read up on what each company is about, and do some background research on the ones you are interested in talking to.

3. Prepare questions.

Come up with questions to ask employers that will show your interest, spark conversation and impress the representatives.

4. Prepare your 30-second elevator speech.

You 30-second elevator speech is what you tell people when you are asked about yourself. Tell them your name, major, why you are there and what you are looking for in a career after college. Be honest, and be yourself!

5. Dress professionally.

Dress for an interview or business presentation. A nice blouse and dress pants will do or a blazer and pencil skirt. Keep it classy, ladies!

6. Bring your confidence!

Most importantly, bring your confidence! Or at least, fake it ‘til you make it. Don’t be nervous or afraid. These employers are here for YOU. The ball is in your court. Play your game and shine like the star you are!
