Ideas for Self Care During Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

Finals are totally time consuming, and sometimes it’s hard to remember to take care of yourself. However, making sure you feel your best can lead to more effective studying and a more balanced, healthy mindset. Check out these tips for self-care during finals season:

1. Make Yourself a Healthy Meal

When you’re bogged down with work, it’s easy to defer to eating takeout and snacks. But fueling up with healthier foods will give you longer-lasting energy – and taking the time to cook for yourself can be a fun mental break. Look on Pinterest or AllRecipes.com for inspiration and get cooking!

2. Find Some New Music

Music is a great way to boost your mood and get energized, and new-to-you songs can give you the fresh mindset that’s sometimes necessary during finals. Check out your Spotify Discover or get some recommendations from a friend for a fun new mix.

3. Exercise

Exercising can be the last thing you want to do when you’re already tired and stressed from finals. However, taking a little time to go for a run or try a yoga video can actually boost your energy. For an extra fun workout, try a cardio dance video with the Fitness Marshall on YouTube. His sassy dance routines to pop music are the perfect study break!

Pamper Yourself

It can be hard to focus on studying when you don’t feel your best. Try taking an extra long hot shower, painting your nails, or doing a facemask (or all of the above) to take care of yourself.

Meditate

Meditation can help you calm down, de-stress, and focus on your work. YouTube offers a variety of guided meditation videos, so you’re sure to find something you like!
