It’s finally fall! To me, fall is best spent with a warm mug of hot chocolate, under a thick blanket, with a good true crime show playing. And of course, a crochet project in my hands.
But, as many crochet enthusiasts may relate to, I spend more time scrolling Pinterest for project ideas than actually crocheting. And what’s the fun in that?
To save you all some trouble, I have a few fun fall project ideas (beginner/intermediate friendly too!) that should make your lazy crochet Sundays just a little bit easier ;)
AMIgurumi animals
Amigurumi is one of my favorite things to recommend to beginner crocheters because although it can be tricky at first, the joy of holding a cute plushie afterward is so, so rewarding!
As for fall-themed projects in particular, there are so many options you can choose from, from black cats to pumpkins to a maple leaf.
Tapestries
Tapestries are an even more beginner-friendly option and can be easily customized to whatever color or style you like. You can create grid-like patterns in different colors to make all kinds of fall-themed scenes, or maybe do a monochromatic design with a unique stitch pattern! Adding tassels, sewing it to a wooden rod, and even adding some embroidery are all great ways to make your tapestry your own.
Fingerless gloves + Beanies
Nothing like colder weather to make you realize you only have two pairs of mismatched gloves at the bottom of your sock drawer…luckily, making fingerless gloves is relatively simple for beginners (it’s mostly just a rectangle sewn into a tube), and are easily customizable!
Beanies are also adorable as the cold air begins to pick up. I’m definitely going to be making a cat beanie sometime soon! These projects are also a great way to use up scrap yarn while being something you’ll reach for often.
Shawls and cardigans
For more advanced crocheters (with maybe a little more yarn on your hands), crocheting a shawl or cardigan is also a great way to use up some of your stash. There are so many different lengths and styles to choose from, and there are many free patterns online.
Now: get to crocheting!
At the end of the day, crochet is all about slowing down and enjoying the process—mistakes and all. Whether you’re spending your Sunday stitching a tiny amigurumi pumpkin or finally finishing a cardigan, enjoy the coziness while it lasts!
