Starting Your Day on the Right Foot

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UTSA chapter.

As we recently hit the one-year mark of the World Health Organization declaring the outbreak of the pandemic, it may be hard to motivate yourself to be productive every day. Like myself, sometimes it’s difficult to get the day started since most days seem to blend in with each other. Here are a few ways to make your day more productive in order to have the best day possible.

Fix Up Your Bed

This is something I have done every day for the past year since I have more time in the morning to get ready. It’s a great way to feel accomplished even if the rest of your day doesn’t go as planned. Then, at the end of the day, you have a nice and clean bed to jump into!

Plan Out Your Day

As someone who works and goes to school completely online, it’s been nice to write down everything I need to do for the day. Even if it is just writing out that I need to go to the grocery store or finish watching one of my lectures, it helps me keep on top of things.

Clean Up Your Area

Since most people either work online or go to school online, it’s important to take a few minutes to clear your workspace before settling in. Clear space = clear mind.

Change Out of Your Sleeping Clothes

Feel more put together and ready for the day! Whether you put on a fresh pair of sweats or a cute outfit, it’s good practice to take the clothes you sleep in off. This puts you out of the mindset of being in bed and set for a new day.

These are all practices I’ve been doing most days to have a much more productive day. But remember, it’s always okay to have bad days where you don’t feel like doing much; life gets hard and tiring sometimes.

Howdy! I'm Cassie and currently a senior studying Environmental Science getting little sleep throughout the semester. I love spending time with my dog, taking naps when I have time, and hiking the beautiful outdoors:)
