Just like everyone else in my high school, I wanted to leave San Antonio behind. I was ready for freedom; however, UTSA was the only public university that offered me a good amount of financial aid, so UTSA it was. I felt like a total let down because all of my friends were going to Texas A&M, Baylor, St. Edward’s, and I was stuck living with my parents traveling 45 minutes to and from campus.

During Roadrunner days, I fell in love with the campus and I knew this was my new home. I met many people, got involved with a number of organizations, and now have a job on campus. I may still live on another side of town, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t leave my old life behind. Attending UTSA was the best decision I ever made.

It’s funny because all throughout high school I always talked down on the university, and now look where I’m at. It just goes to show that you can’t completely predict your future. And that’s okay if things don’t turn out as planned.  I’m still so excited to be a part of the roadrunner community and am truly proud to be a roadrunner.
