Encouragement for Stressed Out College Students

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UTM chapter.

It’s that time of the year where, if you’re in college, you basically feel like you’re drowning in school work, and just in life in general. Between every single assignment a professor can possibly assign at once to having four exams in one week, it can get quite overwhelming. Not to mention trying to be involved with organizations, having a social life and worrying about getting a job or internship. So here is some encouragement for that busy, struggling college student.

For starters, it’s going to be okay. You will get all of your assignments turned in. You will make time to study. You will do well on your exams. You may lose a little sleep, but it’s all going to be okay, I promise.

You can do it. You can be involved with that organization. You can even take on a leadership role. It’s so important to be involved with organizations or clubs that pertain with either your major, or just something that you have a particular interest in. It’s a good way to make likeminded friends, as well as do some networking! You can do it; you can be involved.

Have fun! Obviously, still focus on your school work and being involved, but it’s okay to go have fun and actually have a social life every once in a while. I think we’d all go insane if we didn’t! Make sure to make time to enjoy life and to have some fun!

You will be successful. All the hard work you are putting in towards your school assignments will pay off. All of your involvement will pay off. You will get that job or that internship. It may not be the first one you apply for or your ideal one at first, but you will be successful.

Don’t let stress and worry consume you. That will just make everything worse, trust me. This is supposed to be a fun and exciting time in your life! Just remember, it’s all going to be okay, you can do it, have fun and you will be successful.

I am a pre-vet major who loves to laugh (especially at myself), drink coffee, and spend time with my dog, Cora. I moved from Massachusetts to Tennessee to attend college at UTM and compete for their division 1 rifle team.
