Every year right after summer ends and fall starts to barely creep in, the idea of pumpkin enters society and people of all ages freak out!!  When this happens many questions and thoughts might pop into your head: What is the deal with this pumpkin drink thingy at Starbucks?  Why is everyone snap chatting their first pumpkin latte of the season?  It isn’t even a season yet it is like half summer half fall.  I am so over pumpkin, it is the middle of September!

And then it hit me, people are overdoing pumpkin substances because you can add pumpkin to anything.  You can use pumpkin in a lot of different foods, and who doesn’t love food.  If you are wondering, is pumpkin actually good in everything?  The answer is yes!  It might seem much, but it can add great flavoring and spices to any meal of the day!

Here are six types of food where pumpkin can change your life:

1. Pumpkin Pie

Everyone loves that traditional pumpkin pie during the fall season.  Below is an easy to make recipe that will make your dessert something to remember.

Ingredients

1 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)

½ cup Original Bisquick™ mix

½ cup sugar

1 cup evaporated milk

1 tablespoon butter or margarine, softened

1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

Whipped topping, if desired

Directions

Heat oven to 350ºF. Grease 9-inch pie plate.

Stir all ingredients except whipped topping until blended. Pour into pie plate.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 30 minutes. Refrigerate about 3 hours or until chilled. Serve with whipped topping. Store covered in refrigerator.

2. Pumpkin Bread/Muffins/Pancakes

Pumpkin is the perfect flavoring to go with any sort of carb.  Pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, and pumpkin pancakes are a great fall breakfast item or even snack to make your fall season that much more delightful.  These are all delicious and great plates to make for family and friend get togethers and holiday parties.

3.     Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Those of you that carve pumpkins, you can now figure out what to do with the seeds inside of throwing them away with the rest of the pumpkin.  You can roast them!  Roasted pumpkin seeds provide as a low calorie, light snack that anyone can enjoy.

4.     Pumpkin Pie Pudding

This quick pumpkin dessert is creamy, smooth, and tasty!  All you need is a few cheap ingredients and then you have another pumpkin dish.

Ingredients

Instructions

Beat pudding mix and evaporated milk according to package directions in large bowl; refrigerate for 5 minutes. Add pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice; mix well. Spoon into dessert dishes. Refrigerate for 10 minutes or until ready to serve. Top with whipped topping, if desired.

5.     Pumpkin lattes

If you are not much of a baker, Starbucks has the classical pumpkin lattes that everyone is always talking about.  These can quench your thirst and keep you warm from the cold weather outside.  They are the ideal drink to cuddle up with your blanket and watch movies with!

6.     Pumpkin Bagels and Cream Cheese

Additionally, Einsteins Bros Bagels has already started serving pumpkin bagels and pumpkin cream cheese.  This is my go to bagel and I know it sounds a little overboard on pumpkin, but just try it and you wont regret it.

Pumpkin is only special during one time of the year.  So instead of hating on it, you can embrace it and enjoy as much pumpkin as you can!
