School can be very very stressful!  Whenever a teacher gives you a surprise quiz or hard assignments and exams, it makes your life very hectic and demanding.  Even life, in general, can be too much to handle at times.  Do you ever feel like you are going to have a mental breakdown at school and have no where to go?  Don’t you worry, listed below are 7 places on campus where you can de-stress and forget about all of your anxiety.

1.     Legacy Bridge

The iconic George S. Eccles Legacy Bridge located in between the dorms and the Student Life Center is a great place to sit and people and car watch.  Morning, daytime, or even the evening, the legacy bridge is filled with calming views that gives you time “to observe the world”.  I know that sounds super cheesy and cliché, but try it sometime and you won’t regret it.

2.     Red Butte Gardens

There is something about colorful flowers and the outdoors that brings people to ease and peace.  Walking around Red Butte Gardens can easily get your mind off of things and get you to focus on Mother Nature.  Take a break from your crazy, busy schedule, and breathe in the smell of the flowers and air.

3.     Student Life Center

When in doubt, work it out.  Getting blood flow, moving, and even a little bit of sweat out of your body allows you to release all of this stress and anxiety you may have in life.  You could run on the treadmill, elliptical, or even punch a few boxing bags.  Either way, it will exert bad thoughts and feelings out.  Bring headphones and you can even jam out to music while doing so.

4.     Sit in the middle of president circle

Everyone hears, talks about, and has class near President Circle.  But have you ever actually sat down on the benches in the center of President Circle near all the flowers and look around?  It reminds you how #blessed we are to have the ability to attend such a breathtaking university.

5.     Avoid the Union and eat at the food carts

Who doesn’t love food?!  The Union can at times be very stressful, filled with hundreds of hungry college students.  When I am “hangry”, I am moody and very impatience.  So I like to wonder over the food carts located right across of the library in the plaza, and order the delicious food from there.  There is a lot less people and it is outside in the open fresh air.  It allows for a stress less environment, but still filled with the best thing in life, food!

6.     Utah Museum of Fine Arts

Did you know that there is free yoga at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts?!  There are free yoga classes located right on campus, so why not take advantage of that.  Yoga classes will allow you to relax, focus on yourself, and forget about all the difficulties in your life.  Ignore all the hard homework assignments, your busy schedule, and the every day struggle of being a poor college student.  Yoga lets you concentrate on your body and release your negative energy.

7.     Anywhere outside!

Utah is a beautiful, beautiful place!  If you do not have time to go to any of the other places to de-stress, you can just go outside!  Inhaling and exhaling the fresh Utah air can be very beneficial.  Even just looking at the mountains, makes you realize that the world is a wonderful place!
