10 Things Only Hangry Girls Understand

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Hanger: Hunger + anger. Sometimes, I find myself confiding in a close friend about hanger problems that they pretend to understand, only to find them puzzled when I am ready to punch a wall over my hunger a week later. Here are the following things you only relate to if you’re really, truly hangry.

  1. Friends joke that you are always eating

2. Acquaintances think you’re kidding about hanger

3. They clearly haven’t seen you shove people out of the way to get to food.

4. Or cut long lines to get to food.

5. Hell, you’ve even taken food from events you DEFINITELY weren’t invited to.

6. You have been known to cry because you’re hungry.

The struggle is TOO real.

7. Experienced friends know to bring extra snacks when they leave the house with you.

No one wants to repeat the crying-on-the-bus incident of 2015.

8. You tend to lose a lot of your sanity when you’re hungry.

Suddenly, I’m sending people passive aggressive texts about the individuals who have caused my hunger.

9. You laugh when people pretend to understand your intense hanger.

Yeah, lol, I’m sure you too hit people when you’re hungry.

10. You’re sure only stupid people forget to eat.

Not everyone will get it, but those who get truely hangry sure will. More than an hour without food may as well be a lifetime, and those around you may end up in the crossfire of your wrath.
