She is me

I am not an easy person to desire.

I’m filled to the brim with imperfections and faults.

I am not an easy person to love.

I’m insecure and angry.

I’m self destructive and violent.

I am the product of a tornado and a volcano crashing into each other.

I am not an easy person to touch.

My body is covered in scars that will never let you forget about what I’ve done.

I flinch at the simple feeling of another person’s flesh on mine.

I shrink under the gaze of any sort.

I am her.

She is an easy person to desire.

She is filled to the brim with imperfections that only pull you in.

She is a game of clue.

You think you know the answer but you really don’t.

She is an easy person to love.

She’s insecure and tends to become cold but it gives her texture and despite everything she is warm.

She is the color of the sky right after the sun sets.

She is an easy person to touch.

She’s ghostly pale but the shadows that run across her body draw the patterns on her skin that you desire to create.

She is me but, I am not her.

Author’s Note: This is a poem that is not only something that I’m very proud of, but,  is something that resonates very strongly with me. I think everyone in their own way faces the obstacle of becoming the person they wish they could be. To me it’s something that has simultaneously driven me and haunted me. I hope you enjoyed!
