Burberry Breaks Barriers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

Burberry is bringing diversity to the fashion industry. After featuring mega-models Jourdan Dunn and Naomi Campbell in  it’s Spring/Summer 2015 campaign, the company decided to push the envelope even further with their children’s campaign. Their 2015 Spring/Summer children’s campaign features the adorable Laila Naim. Laila is the very first Pakistani model featured in a Burberry ad; she has made history. (In the sweetest way ever) Little miss Laila shines among the other young campaign stars. It’s clear that she has a promising future ahead of her.

Diversity is not something largely seen in the fashion world, which is why Burberry’s recent campaigns are being celebrated. These kinds of decisions are forging a path for models of color. They are what will lead us toward a brighter future; a future where using models of color will no longer be news, but the norm.
