These Bops Are Perfect For Your Summer 2021 Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Hot Girl Summer is upon us! The spring semester is coming to a close and we’re ready to trade the burnout for beach trips. I don’t know about you, but I think our summer playlists need to be perfectly curated to make up for the two grisly semesters of remote learning we had to endure. Consider adding these bops to the soundtrack of your summer:

déjà vu by Olivia Rodrigo

Do I even have to explain this one? Driver’s license singer Olivia Rodrigo is taking the internet by storm again with her new single déjà vu. We are all achieving main character status this summer when we put this song on the aux, relationship drama or not.

Perfect for: beach trips, eating strawberry ice cream, and flexing on your ex

Ungodly Hour by Chloe x Halle

This track was released last year, but she’s still making the cut. Chloe x Halle gave us everything with this song, from stunning visuals to a dreamy, pulsating rhythm. This summer, we’re giving her her moment.

Perfect for: rollerskating, impromptu photoshoots, and long car rides

Serotonin by Courtney Govan

It’s a Hot, Happy Girl Summer. Indie pop singer Courtney Govan is all about finding your happiness in her latest track, and the message is much needed considering the past year. Things are looking up, let’s keep the optimism!

Perfect for: self-love, letting go, and trying new things

Kiss Me More by Doja Cat ft. SZA

Doja Cat never misses, especially not with SZA on her side. The rapper dropped this fun, laidback, flirtatious single in anticipation of her Planet Her era, and we’re absolutely loving the summery vibes.

Perfect for: sunbathing, making Tik Toks, and having a summer fling

You Belong With Me (Taylor’s Version)

For those of us who just can’t help but pine all year round; we’re jamming out while doing it, and we’re doing it under Taylor’s terms. Not to mention this legendary track is absolutely needed for nostalgia’s sake. This past year has aged us, it’s totally okay to pretend it’s 2009 again for a few minutes.

Perfect for: nostalgia, homemade music videos, and screaming the bridge with your friends
