Here at Her Campus USF, we’ve thoroughly covered how to eat healthy on a budget (check out these articles herehere and here.). The problem is that we’ve always focused on packing your own lunch. I think you’ll agree with me when I say that food tastes so much better when someone else cooked it!

That’s why I’ve compiled this list of tasty, healthy AND budget-conscious restaurants around USF.

1.Jason’s Deli

Okay, I’ll admit I’m a bit biased toward Jason’s because I’ve worked there for nearly two years. But seriously, none of its food items contain high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors and dyes. They even have an entire gluten-free menu. There’s a huge, fresh salad bar, a variety of soups and a few healthy sandwiches and wraps to choose from. Plus, you might want to treat yourself to some of its complimentary ice cream (It’s ok! I won’t tell anyone you cheated on your diet). Show them your USF I.D. Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday and receive 10% off! (Dine-in only)

Located at 2702 E Fowler Ave. (by Sweetbay and Five Guys).

2. SoFresh Salads and Grill

SoFresh Salads and Grill only opened its doors earlier this year, but it has already created buzz among USF students. They sell all sorts of salads, sandwiches, wraps and smoothies. I went for the first time a few weeks ago and ordered the White Bean Wrap and kale salad. It was all so fresh and delicious. My friend was super satisfied with the smoothie he ordered. SoFresh is now one of my go-to restaurants! It doesn’t hurt that USF students receive a 20% discount on Saturdays.

Located at 2774-A E. Fowler Ave. (by Sweetbay).

3. Kaleisia Tea Lounge

Kaleisia Tea Lounge, with its zen atmosphere, free wifi and yummy food, is my go-to place to eat and study. It has a cool Japanese-style room called the “Shōji Sukiya” room where you embrace Japanese culture by removing your shoes and lounging on floor. Choose from one of the many teas located on its Wall of Teas and munch on some of its snacks and entrees. My favorite item is the Hummus Avocado Wrap. The Pumpkin Coconut Soup is also to die for.

Located at 1441 E. Fletcher Ave.

4. Sweet Tomatoes

Sweet Tomatoes is worth the farther drive. Create your own perfect meal at its salad bar, soup station and bakery. Coupons for this buffet-style restaurant can be found almost every week in the Sunday newspaper. You can find new items almost every time you eat here because its menu changes monthly. Check out its current selection on its website.

Located at 14703 N. Dale Mabry Highway.

Hey there! My name is Samantha Stern and I'm a graduating senior of mass communication with a concentration on magazine journalism at the University of South Florida. I've been writing for Her Campus USF since January 2013 and this semester I was appointed editor-in-chief of the online publication. Life is a stressful thing and I want to provide a means of escape and self- improvement for young women, as well as for myself, by writing fun, engaging and useful content accessible anytime and anywhere via the internet. My ultimate goal is to empower women in their 20's. Women are hungry for everyday life advice. They crave tips for achieving the ideal in money, intelligence, beauty, fashion, health and lifestyle. I will satiate their informational appetite and, more importantly, help them become their outright best by writing fun and practical content relevant to the modern 20-something.When I'm not writing you can find me reading magazines (duh!) and books, taking long, hot baths and exploring local haunts with friends and family.Feel free to follow we on Twitter @samantha__stern or check out my resume and portfolio by clicking here.
