With one year under my belt of late-night snacking or on-the-go mornings, here are a few healthy foods that currently fill up my fridge!

  1. Hummus
  2. Guacamole
  3. Carrots
  4. Celery
  5. Apples
  6. Bananas
  7. Total Fage Yogurt
  8. Almond milk or soy milk
  9. La Croix
  10. Lemons/limes

I found a new love for both hummus and guacamole this summer because they are versatile spreads that go with most foods. I like having hummus and carrots or guacamole with some pretzel chips or tortilla chips. You can even have some celery sticks with either hummus or guacamole!

Next are apples and bananas, which are easy on-the-go snacks. In the morning when I think of my schedule and know it’s packed, I bring a washed apple or banana with me. I pack them on the side of my bag so that when I am walking to class I can easily reach to grab and eat it. I also like to get something in my stomach before classes, so I grab a small plastic cup and layer peanut butter granola in with my yogurt. This is super easy and fast, but also filling!

I also like to keep almond milk or soy milk in my fridge for the days I want to make a smoothie or have cereal. Additionally, I keep a few La Croix in my fridge for when my friends come over. It’s something I can offer them to drink or something for me to drink when I need something refreshing. Currently, my favorite flavor is peach! Lastly, I have some lemons and limes in my fridge that I use in my water. I cut them up and keep it in a container for when I need them.

I definitely recommend having fresh foods in your fridge, especially if you are trying to eat healthier. I know my fridge last year was filled with relatively unhealthy choices or nothing at all, so I am glad I was able to change that and that I can now share this with people who also want to eat healthier!
