Do you love a quick and easy breakfast with solid nutritional value? Then you might want to consider throwing away those Quaker Oats and Nature’s Valley granola bars in your pantry.  When doing your weekly grocery trip, look for bars that have sugars primarily from dried fruit, have some amount of fat, and do not contain refined grains or added sugars.

Here are a few granola brands that offer the best ingredients with great health benefits.  I found these great picks from Time Magazine.

1. Rxbars

This is a new trendy granola bar that has 210-220 calories per serving.  The majority of the ingredients come from nuts, dates and egg whites for protein.  There is no added sugar, gluten, soy or dairy.   https://www.rxbar.com/

2. LÄRABAR

These are a perfect example of why you should read the ingredients. They are high in sugar, but the sugars come from the high amount of dates used in the bar.  They are high in fat and fiber to help your system keep flowing!

3.  KIND

Kind bars have “ingredients you can see and pronounce.”  Their snacks promise a nutrient-dense bar with nuts, whole grains and fruits.  Depending on the flavor, there are different amounts of sugars, but they always stay at a solid low amount.

4.  CORE Food bars

This brand is unique because it is made up of whole foods only and are perishable because they do not add salt, syrup, oils or natural flavors.  Their variety of products are 100 percent plant based, gluten free, organic and vegan.  These are the perfect bar to use as a meal supplement when you have an extra-long school day, which is why they are high in calories.

Your local grocery store should have the majority of these brands. The only one I’ve had trouble finding is CORE foods. Whole Foods and Back to Basics grocery stores should definitely have all of these granola bars and more.  A good source of fiber and whole grains are extremely important for a healthy diet.  Now, go experiment with some brands and see which you like best!
