4 Ways to Destress When Things Get Crazy

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

Things may get a little hectic as the fall semester approaches. Whether you’re a freshman or an upperclassman, here are some tips on how to combat those crazy moments! Always take some time out of your day for you, be it five mins or an hour – it makes the difference.

Make a Gratitude List

Nothing gets me smiling like taking some time to reflect on what I am grateful for. Whether it’s a friend checking how my day went, or getting all my work done. At the end of the day all the little things do add up and taking the time to acknowledge them helps take the mind off of things. I love to jot them down in my planner I can see all my previous highlights when I have a busy week!

Face Masks

Who doesn’t like some time to sit and chill with a mask on? When things get stressful I tend to break out! My go to facemask for when this happens is Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty, which has tons of peppermint oil, kaolin and honey. Doing a mask helps me destress and unwind, plus it makes for great selfies! I also love character sheet masks; they are honestly so silly and fun and make even the baddest of moods better.

Tea

Lately I have been on a tea kick, and that may or may not have something to do with Teavana’s epic sale… My go to teas at the moment are Mint Majesty for when I want something refreshing and light.  Maharaja® Chai/Samurai Chai Tea Blend is also quite nice and perfect for fall as it is so cozy and spicy. If tea is not your thing, cozying up to a cup of hot cocoa is equally as magical and relaxing!

Book

What better way to escape reality than with a good book? Whether you snuggle up under the covers or head out to the quad and soak up the sun, a good book is a great way to detach and unwind. It can be the hottest and latest young adult book, comics, or flipping through a magazine trying to figure who wore it better.  Adult coloring books are also very therapeutic as you fill in the designs with color.

Whether you do all these things every day or one once a week is up to you. Just never forget to take the time for you!
