Is it the urge of falling in love or is it the fear of being alone? Whether we urge to fall in love or whether we don’t want to be alone, we all want one thing: ATTENTION. We, college girls seek attention; which can come with a little bit of affection to make us feel better anytime. We all crave these emotions of being in love and of feeling butterflies in our stomach. Some, desire to feel lust, others to blush, to hear compliments, the addiction of feeling someone love you, etc. etc. etc. But don’t you wonder, why the urgency? Everything comes when it has to come, you can’t find love, love will find you!

Like sex and hunger, the urge to fall in love is primitive and biological. Did you know it takes less than four minutes to decide whether you have feelings for someone? We all want that lover that cares for us and makes us happy not only physically, but mentally. There are many different types of love… Isn’t it the best feeling in the world when your crush feels the same way about you? Everyone can fall in love, once, twice in a lifetime but there will always be that one person that will always have your heart.

Blown away by my research on love, I went around campus asking girls what their idea of love was. Check out their answers!

·      Nicole, a Biology major student said: “Love is the closest thing we have to magic, is what makes me happy and give me a reason to believe”. Nicole is a smart and lovable student who is currently on a serious relationship of almost 2 years and focused on getting to med school and becoming an oncologist. Her boyfriend also studies Biology.

·      Cindy, a Social Sciences major student said: “My idea of love is like Christopher Poindexter once said: “And in the end, we were all just humans. Drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness”. Cindy is single, has an overwhelming desire to travel the world, learn new languages, and explore different cultures, but at the same time, she ‘s still waiting for her true love to show up.

·      Valerie, a Chemistry major student said: “Love for me is commitment, you can feel attraction and have chemistry with many people but being committed to someone is the key of love. People tend to confuse lust with love nowadays”. Valerie is single and recently got out of a serious, very long relationship and is now living her life to the fullest, focusing on school, and living with no regrets.

·      Pamela, a Business Administration student said: “Love can be explained in so many ways, but for me it’s a feeling of honesty, respect, and compassion, which connects people”. Pamela is a unique girl with big ambitions in her life who is starting to go out with a boy that promises a positive outcome. She’s loving life and studying to go to law school.

Everyone in this world has a different idea and perception of what love really is. But what we all know is that 99.9% of women crave these emotions that get your heart going and allows all these butterflies on your stomach get out. Carrie Bradshaw once said: “So, when it comes to finance and dating, I couldn’t help but wonder… Why do we keep investing?” I say we keep investing to see if one of those stocks brings out the fortune that we all want. Fall in love girls, but make sure that taking the risk is worth the investment.
