CAAMpus Cutie: Effortlessly Beautiful Carla Camacho

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPRM chapter.

“Se fiel a ti y a tu esencia.”

Name: Carla Camacho Velázquez

Age: 21

Major: Biology

Year of Study: Senior

Hometown: Ponce, P.R.

Zodiac Sign: Scorpio

Relationship status: Single

HC: Describe yourself in three words:

Carla: Confident, outgoing and realistic

HC: How do you spend your free time?

Carla: If I’m not binge watching series on Netflix I’m probably out with my friends doing what colegiales do best, janguiando.

HC: Describe a man that would win your heart:

Carla: As time has passed I have learned that I really appreciate honesty in a guy, as well as good family values. I tend to joke around a lot so a good sense of humor is a definite must and if he would sit with me through an entire football Sunday, he would probably sweep me off my feet.

HC: Favorite football team?

Carla: Buffalo Bills forever!!!

HC: Word has it you write poetry. How did that passion start?

Carla: Not many people know about this (except maybe my twitter followers). I think I was about thirteen, starting the whole teenage drama stage. I felt the need to express some bottled up emotions that I couldn’t quite verbalize, so I just started to write them down, until now.

HC: What inspires you to write?

Carla: One of my closest friends jokes about me being like Taylor Swift *laughs out loud*,  because I tend to write about my ex-lovers. Also, I write about heartbreaks, just not mines but my friends’ too. When I feel that I’m going through a struggle in any of my relationships or see my friends going through a hard time I write about it because it helps me get things off my chest and reflect on how I can help my friends and myself.

HC: What are your plans after graduation?

Carla: Right after graduation I wish to take a little break from my studies and travel a bit. I’ve been so lucky to travel to so many amazing places that I wish to follow up on some of them.  South America would be my starting point. After that STRAIGHT TO MED SCHOOL!

“When you find your passion you pursue it.”

HC: How do you see yourself ten years from now?

Carla: I see myself pursuing a career in medicine. I’ve been exposed to that life since I can remember (both parents and brother are doctors) and truth be told I really can’t imagine myself doing anything else. When you find your passion you pursue it.

HC: What is your best quality? Your biggest flaw?

Carla: I think that my best quality and my biggest flaw is my honesty.  I’m very straight forward with everybody, I tend to have no filter and some people don’t find that very amusing. In the other hand, many appreciate it.

HC: Life motto:

Carla: About five years ago my mom gave me a birthday card with a very special message that kind of stuck to me, literally and figuratively, since I got it tattooed three years ago and it has been my life motto ever since. The quote is Se fiel a ti y a tu esencia”
