You Might Be Pretty, but are You Beautiful?
By Eryn Pierce
This article is for anyone who has ever felt self-conscious about their looks in one way or anotherJ
I’m short, chubby, and don’t have many common qualifications to be considered ‘pretty’ by most standards. I don’t have guys rushing up to get my number. No secret admirer has ever fallen in love with me from afar. I don’t think many people take a second glance after seeing me. And sometimes I get down about that. But then I remember I might not exactly be pretty, but I know for a FACT that I am beautiful. Here are five non-superficial ways to be beautiful every single day.
1. BE KIND
- give compliments to strangers
- smile and make eye contact to people you don’t know
- make someone feel about themselves the way you feel when someone random is nice to you
2. BE CONFIDENT
- own who you are!
- self love baby
- your confidence will rub off on the people you’re around
- others will notice your confidence glow
3. RADIATE POSITIVITY
- focus on the good in every situation
- keep your words and actions positive
- support and encourage those around you
4. BE HONEST
- transparency shows you are genuine
- the truth is never the wrong answer (unless it’s unnecessary and possibly hurtful)
5. ACT EMPATHETICALLY- The Golden Rule
- Consider how your actions affect others
- Put yourself in someone else’s shoes before you say or do something
- Act in a way that distributes only happiness
- “Treat Others the Way You Want to be Treated”
These five things are not absolute. I am constantly working to be a better person and love myself more every day. I know, though, that with each good deed and kind word or action, I am showing the world how beautiful I really am.
I invite you to do the same.
