Intro- What’s HOSA?
HOSA is a student-led organization for Health students who are interested in or are pursuing a career in health professions. HOSA was formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America, but now we are just called HOSA- Future Health Professionals. HOSA’s mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare to all people. These opportunities include leadership roles, competitive events, leadership conferences, career exploration, community outreach, and health science courses.
2022 International Leadership Conference – Nashville, TN
Last June, all of us here at UNH HOSA had the honor of attending the 2022 International Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. A few months earlier, I had applied to some scholarships through HOSA and had no real confidence in my ability to win one. Just a few weeks before the conference, I received an email and somehow I had won a $1,000 scholarship from the National Healthcareer Association. After working really hard all year to kick off HOSA at UNH and to get everyone to ILC, I was incredibly grateful and proud.
At ILC, I was invited to the VIP Scholarship dinner, where we were seated with our sponsors for a three-course dinner and a ceremony to present the awards. Our photos were taken, and after all scholarships and awards had been given out, Doctor Mike, internet sensation and family physician, came to meet all of the scholarship recipients and their sponsors, and let me just say- a LOT of photos were taken. After having such a fun time, we were all escorted to the Opening Ceremony where all of our faces were in a slideshow on the big screen and we were reunited with our individual chapters. ILC was a time to remember and I am so excited for this year in Dallas, TX.

After returning home, to the frigid state of New Hampshire, I was asked to conduct an interview with the National Healthcareer Association and they published an article about me and the scholarship I received.
