What you need to know to get that glow!

Brushing on some highlight is all the rage nowadays (and no, we’re not talking about your basic yellow marker). From pressed powders to liquid illuminators, the beauty world has it all. This past summer I found myself aimlessly walking around Sephora, browsing the aisles and admiring all the things I wish I could spend my money on. I eventually stumbled upon the Holy Grail of highlighters that I’ve only seen in makeup tutorials; the one and only BECCA highlighters ranging from Pearl (a soft luminescent white) to Topaz (a golden bronze pearl). Despite my fears of looking like an oily mess, I decided to give highlighters a try and quickly decided they are the best thing the makeup gurus have ever invented. Highlighters can be used to accentuate your favorite features (like your cheekbones and the bridge of your nose) and give the complexion a soft, natural glow. After trying different products from various companies and doing some research about the most raved ones, I’ve compiled my personal top five best highlighters.

1. BECCA’s Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector ($38)

This brand comes in a total of 5 colors (Pearl, Moonstone, Opal, Rose Gold and Topaz). They also just released the newest limited edition, Rose Quartz this past September and recently did a collaboration with makeup guru Jaclyn Hill to create Champagne Pop. BECCA’s highlighters are certainly worth the money as they stay on all day and reflect light like nobody’s business.

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Sundipped ($52)

This kit comes with 4 different highlighters with all very warm undertones. They’re known to leave a smooth finish without looking cakey and apparently even the Kardashians use Anastasia Glow Kit to always look camera ready.

3. Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Powder ($53)

Laura Mercier is known for her loose setting powder, but her highlighters are just as good. They come in four shades fitting fair to dark skin tones. People swear the glow is flawless and let’s be honest, this packaging is so gorgeous.

4. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick ($46)

These Shimmer Bricks come in 4 different compacts with 5 colors each in slim strips; giving you the option to use one or mix them all together for a stunning highlight.

5. Makeup Geek/Kathleen Lights Highlighter Palette ($39)

This palette was produced by Youtube makeup guru Kathleen Lights with the help of Makeup Geek Cosmetics. The palette comes with 3 shades all named after different kinds of light (Nightlight, Starlight, and Sunlight). This product is a personal favorite of mine as it does so well at staying on all day with no fade and brings some shimmery color to one’s face.

No matter what highlight you choose to use, you’ll be glowing like the diamond you are.
