5 Reasons Why Mindy Lahiri is a Role Model

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

While the last season of The Mindy Project is airing on Hulu I could not help to reminisce on how the main character, Mindy Lahiri, has been an inspiration to me since I first watched the show back in 2012. She has notably described herself as a “hot, smart woman with an ass that doesn’t quit” and I like to live my life with those same aspirations. So here are some other reasons why Mindy Lahiri should become one of your role models, too.

She is a successful OBGYN.

Mindy is a bomb gynecologist who helps bring lives into this world. Numerous times during the show people did not view her as a proper medical doctor because she is a woman of color so time and time again she shows people up by being one of the best doctors in her practice.

She oozes self-love.

Mindy is curvy and she owns it without caring what people say. She wears banging outfits and gets all the men she wants while balancing her amazing career.

She loves food.

The way she devours a whole pizza to herself in one sitting is honestly the most relatable thing about this character. She is also not afraid or ashamed to talk about her unconditional love for food which we all share.

She illustrates the importance of a healthy relationship.

Mindy has a powerhouse personality that needs a powerhouse man to work with it and she knows it; she expects only the best for herself. She does not let a man control her nor tell her what to do with her life.

She is unapologetic about who she is and what she stands for.

In the end, Mindy does not care what people think about her because she is just living her life the way she wants to.

Peace out Haters!
