We’ve all experienced the feeling of looking in the mirror and wishing our hair was five inches longer. However, hair growth can be a super difficult, lengthy and expensive journey. Plus, with all of the natural and DIY hair growth remedies out there, it is super discouraging to find that none of them actually work. Is a simple, inexpensive, healthy hair growth remedy really too much to ask for? Not at all. As a woman who has definitely struggled with this, I went on a journey to find the best of the best fast, inexpensive and healthy hair growth remedies. Below are my top two hair growth remedies that actually work!

Fermented Rice Water Remedy.

The fermented rice water remedy is amazing because all you need is rice. First, it is important to understand how to prepare your own fermented rice water.

Step one: Rinse and wash a few cups of rice. This can be any kind of rice you want, but I used white rice because it’s all I had at home.

Step two: Transfer the clean rice into a mason jar, or any sealable container, and fill the rest of it with water. The exact ratio is about two tablespoons of rice per cup of water.

Step three: Seal the mason jar and let it sit for 12-24 hours at room temperature. Once the rice water is properly fermented, then you are ready to go with the hair growth remedy.

For easy application, transfer your fermented rice water into a spray bottle and apply in the shower. After washing and conditioning, spray your entire head with the fermented rice water from root to end and massage it into your scalp. After your whole head is covered, slowly pour the remaining rice water onto your hair, let sit for about 15 minutes and lightly rinse your hair. Then you’re done! Fermented rice water is a very strong remedy and can be harsh on your hair if used too frequently, so make sure to only use the rice water once a week or once every two weeks. I did it once a week and got amazing results. However, if you find that your hair is more sensitive, I would recommend using it once every two weeks. Again, this remedy is super easy, inexpensive and will actually give you the results you’ve been wanting!

No Wash Remedy.

For the no wash remedy, the main focus is to give your hair a break from constant washing. First, it is very important to wash your hair as little as possible. Try to wash once a week or less, depending on how long you’re comfortable going without washing your hair. Remember, this does not mean you should not or cannot shower! Second, start putting coconut oil on the ends of your hair after showering. Any coconut oil works. Just try to find the most natural kind with the fewest ingredients so that it is healthier for your hair. Due to the fact that your hair does get pretty greasy without washing it, it is important to get a good dry shampoo when doing this hair growth remedy. What I used and love is a very natural and inexpensive product called Not Your Mother’s: Clean Freak Dry Shampoo. This dry shampoo will actually save your life while doing the no wash remedy because nobody wants to go out with greasy hair! Lastly, you’re going to want to get a wide-toothed comb. Use this comb every time you brush your hair. Using a wide-toothed comb instead of a regular brush allows you to be gentle on your hair while also keeping it from knotting and breaking, which is very important. The no wash remedy is by far my favorite out of the two because it is super simple, inexpensive and it is more of a lifestyle change for overall healthier and longer hair. I saw really amazing and fast results with this remedy.

If you are wanting to grow your hair out and are struggling to find a remedy that works, is inexpensive and is simple to use, these two remedies are here to help. I did trial periods for both of these remedies, starting with fermented rice and then the no wash remedy. While the fermented rice remedy grew my hair faster, it can be a difficult remedy to stick with because you constantly have to make fresh batches of rice water. The no wash remedy took longer to give me the results I wanted, but it was very easy to stick with and made me feel like I was growing my hair every day. Whether you want fast results or a new healthy hair routine, both of these remedies will give you the hair growth you have been looking for!
