Free Fall Activities for (Broke) College Students

Fall has been here for some time now, yet the weather has been stuck in summer mode. With the recent dip in temperature this past weekend, though, it is finally starting to feel like fall! It is the best time of the year to snuggle up in cozy sweaters, go apple picking, and paint pumpkins. Yet, many of our favorite fall activities tend to cost money—something many of us college students lack. Here’s a list of some activities that are still fun for the fall season, and the best part, at no (or very little) cost!

  • Have a fall photoshoot

  • Visit an outdoor market/shop

  • Discover a new favorite spot on campus

  • Volunteer at a soup kitchen

  • Roast marshmallows

  • Do a craft with leaves

  • Plan Halloween costumes

  • Upcycle old clothing into new outfits

  • Make potpourri

  • Create your own haunted house

  • Create music playlists for each month of the year

  • (Scary) Movie night

  • Find a new hiking trail

  • Remake trending videos/ tik toks with friends

  • Invent a new card game

  • Start a journal

  • Create a new insta aesthetic (filter pics, plan feed, etc.)

  • Read – a book, a blog, a fanfiction, a review, a Her Campus article ☺

  • Camp outside for a night (in a safe place)

  • Find a new campus study spot

  • Get a group together for yoga or pilates

  • Visit the UK (or your campus) Art Museum

  • Plan out your Thanksgiving/winter breaks

  • Plan out your Thanksgiving outfit

  • Late night tea talks with your girl gang

Hopefully you and some friends can get together and enjoy some of these inexpensive/free activities! If you do any of them or make your own, tag @hercampusuk on Instagram! Be safe, stay warm, and have a happy fall!
