Congratulations UIC students! We are about to begin the seventh week of the semester. You could give yourself a pat on the back, or you could buy yourself a delicious cupcake from Flirty Cupcakes, located on 1030 W. Taylor St., in order to commend yourself for all of the effort you’ve put forth so far. It isn’t easy being a college student, so we have to enjoy those moments that make it worth it.
This month, I would recommend the Pumpkin cupcake to help you ease into fall. Topped with a creamy maple pecan buttercream, this cupcake will finally have you feeling like you’re in October. It’s the perfect way to start getting into the Halloween spirit. If Pumpkin isn’t your favorite flavor, there are still a variety of other choices to choose from. I should warn you though, if you’re a cupcake lover, you may feel slightly overwhelmed when attempting to decide which cupcake will be yours. The choice isn’t easy, but I’m sure you’ll make the right one. Here’s a little preview:
My personal favorite is the Paradise Island –a pineapple cupcake topped with a coconut rum cream cheese frosting. After several consecutive visits of having this spectacular desert, I finally allowed myself the opportunity to try other flavors, and I’m glad I did! For all of the Oreo enthusiasts out there with an extreme sweet tooth, the Oreo cupcake is the one for you. It is a chocolate cupcake with an Oreo cream filling, topped with an Oreo buttercream frosting. Continuing with this cookie trend, you could also try the Me Want Cookie Dough, a chocolate cupcake which contains a cookie dough filling and is topped with a chocolate ganache. Let me tell you, I was impressed!
I would also recommend The Turtle Always Wins the Race for a perfect blend of chocolate and caramel. This chocolate cupcake has a caramel pecan center and is topped with a caramel pecan cream cheese frosting. It is bursting with flavors that fully complement one another. After trying one, Alex shares: “I want to personally thank the makers of these cupcakes.”
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy a delicious cupcake with a cappuccino, homemade hot chocolate, or a shot of milk, while working on a paper or studying for an exam.
