6 Tips to Looking Better in Photos!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.
  1. Know your angles. Look back at your favorite pictures and try to find a pattern. Channel this for future pictures. (Especially for selfies!)
  2. If you tend to blink in pictures, try closing your eyes and then opening them right before the shutter goes off.
  3. This sounds weird on paper, but you’re going to have to trust me here: when posing for a photo, bring your face out slightly and angle it upwards. This will help to avoid the double chin and add a slimming effect!
  4. If you’re wanting to look taller, the photograph should be taken from below face level. Likewise, if you’re wanting to look shorter, it should be taken from above.
  5. Don’t be afraid to tell the photographer what to do. If you have a favorite pose or prefered lighting, be upfront about it. After all, it is your picture.
  6. Lastly, SMILE! Lose the duck faces ladies, as a geniune grin will go a long way.
