With holidays comes shopping, and lots of it!

It’s enjoyable for those who don’t have to be slaving away behind cashiers, and drying their tears with the piles of unfolded clothes left behind by parents who have their children attached to leashes.

So before you think working at a mall or some boutique is a cute idea during the holidays, think again.

Retail Small Talk

“Hi, Welcome!” seems to be a gateway for empty conversation that you rather not have. At first it’s harmless, but after hearing about Houston’s unpredictable weather and terrible traffic for the hundredth time you want to stab your ear drums.

No Free Time

Get used to not hanging out with your friends, and just crying about your poor decision to take the job. All stores are open on weekends until crazy hours of the night which means no social life for you.

Last Minute Shoppers

Customers, or should I say soulless creatures, like to shop last minute for items. This last minute shopping results in rage, and you don’t want to be on the receiving end of it.

Retail Chores

If you dread cleaning your room when staying with your parents for the holidays, then you’ll hate retail. No one enjoys cleaning up mystery fluids on top of a thousand other things.

Too Tiring

Geez, you think finals are tiring? At least you can express how much you hate finals while studying for them. In retail, you have a smile plastered to your face all day when you want to cry. By the time you get home you’re a shell of your former self.
