Summer Smoothies: Beating the heat with a refreshing drink

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

The weather may be cooling down but in Florida that really just means our high of 97 degrees turned into a high of 95.  Although some might want to reach for a big bowl of ice cream, you want to try to avoid it! We collegiettes are health conscious, smart-eating fitness machines — nothing but the best for us. To watch our waists, we reach for some fresh fruit and milk! You got it; it’s smoothie day! We’ve put together some delicious recipes for you to slurp on while you beat the heat.

A Triple-Berry Blend can be easily blended with minimal ingredients.

  • 1 1/2 cups mixed blackberries, strawberries and raspberries
  • 1 cup each milk and ice
  • Sugar to taste

Stick it in the blender and let your taste buds sing!

Peach-Mango-Banana Blend is perfect for a citrusy flavor.

  • 1 cup each chopped fresh or frozen peaches and mango
  • 1 cup each plain yogurt and ice
  • 1/2 banana
  • Sugar to taste

This is a great blend to get a little taste of the tropics at home.

Banana PB&J Blend has a little bit of a guilty pleasure, but in the right measures.

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1-cup soymilk
  • 1/4 cup each creamy peanut butter and wheat germ
  • 2 tablespoons seedless strawberry or raspberry jelly

Everything you like in a childhood snack all in a frozen drink.

Enjoy your tummy staying full and your waistline staying slim, ladies!
